Using the family finder may seem complicated when you first see it, but in truth it's not too bad. Essentially, what happens is sometimes when people create characters they create them with parents or siblings in mind. However, as stated in the rules, it's not permitted to play a sibling duo yourself, and it's more fun to have other players interacting rather than one person playing a whole family. So, in order to fix this issue, people state what exactly they're looking for here, and other people can come adopt/create those characters. It's not quite adopting, and it's not quite creating.
Here's an example:
Someone creates a character named Fluffy. They want Fluffy to have a brother, but they can't play that brother themselves because of the rules. So, they come to the family finder department and make a thread stating that they're looking for a brother for their character. They state what kind of cat he would be, giving vague physical descriptions that the other player can build upon. The player that chooses to adopt Fluffy's brother would be the one to really build the character and give him a personality. The name can be either predetermined or the player adopting the character can choose, either way is fine.
If you're posting a family member or members to be adopted, the genetics of the cats in relation to the original family member will have to be verified. You can either PM me (Danielle) or just post a thread and wait for me to check it there. It's less hassle if we get all the genetics out of the way before anyone adopts.
If you're adopting a character from the family finder, just make a character sheet like usual in the character creation board. Just add in somewhere that they're a relative of an already existing cat and wait for approval!
So you see, it's really quite simple. Still, if you have any questions don't be afraid to ask!
