As with any good roleplay site, we have a few rules. Please at least give these a quick skim before making any characters, as it's easier for everyone involved. Do check back with the rules periodically, because things are occasionally added or changed. If you've got any questions, just send one of the admins a PM!
One account per person. What with how many characters there can be in a warrior cats setting, it's easier to keep track of everyone this way. Your username can be anything you like, given it is appropriate.
If more than one person in your household is a member, please PM an admin and let them know as soon as you can. Otherwise, you run the risk of one or both accounts getting deleted due to matching IP addresses. Don't worry though, messages will be sent before anything like that happens.
Some swearing is allowed, but try to keep it to a minimum. These are cats anyway, and should be using the warriors world curses such as foxdung, etc.
Make sure to keep everything PG-13, so no sexual situations, drugs, or things of that kind. This is a Proboards rule, so it should be followed regardless.
Keep chatspeak to a minimum. It's alright if you use it occasionally and in the shoutbox, but please don't make a habit of writing in it. It can be difficult to understand, especially for those who don't speak English as their first language.
TCR operates on liquid time, meaning that your character can be in multiple active threads at once as long as you’re able to put them in chronological order if need be. Any completed threads will be added to the Timeline (there will be a link to the Timeline once it's posted).Eventually there will be a site-wide Timeline so all threads will need to be placed on it accurately.
All in-character posts should be written in third-person, to avoid confusion. This means no sentences such as "I walked into camp". This rule does not apply to dialogue.
All threads must have the following information listed in the first post, in the following format:
When: Put the IC date and time here, in the day of the moon and general time of day, ie sunhigh.
Where: Put the general location here.
Who: Put any predetermined characters here, and state whether it's private or open for others to join in.
No godmoding or powerplaying is allowed, unless you have the other player(s)’ permission. Not giving a character enough time to react to something, stating their opinions for them, and controlling their actions in any way are all considered powerplaying. Godmoding is when your character is so strong to the point of being overpowered and impossible to defeat.
In a similar vein to the above, characters can not be killed without their player both knowing and approving of it beforehand. While all characters have to die eventually, it's ultimately up to their player how it happens.
We don't have any word or line requirements here, but please don't post one liners such as "He smiled" or "She ate some fresh-kill". It makes it hard for others to play off of your post and make the roleplay interesting. As long as you've given something that helps drive the thread forward instead of leaving it stagnant, you're doing fine.
Please adhere to proper posting order. This means that if Person A posts, then Person B posts, and then Person C posts, Person B cannot post again until person A has posted their response. This is to allow all characters ample time to react to events. If a new character joins the thread, just resume posting order as if that person had been there all along. For example, Person A and B both post, then person D joins the thread and posts their response. Person C posts after that, and now the posting order is A, B, D, C.
However, if it has been more than two weeks since the person next up in posting order has been online and they are not currently on hiatus, the posting order may be broken for the sake of maintaining activity. If the person comes back to the site before the thread is completed, they can still post in the thread and post order will continue as if they had just joined the thread.
**If you break a rule, an admin or moderator will point it out to you so you can fix it. If you don't fix it, or make the same mistake a second time, you'll receive a warning on your account. If you get three warnings, you'll be banned from the site. Hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone!

Character Rules
Here at TCR you’re given four character slots to start off with. If you prove yourself to be consistently active and able to manage all of your characters without any issues, you can make a request for additional character slots. Staff are given an additional two slots for any high ranking characters.
Elders that have been retired in-character do not count against the limit. For example, you could have four characters, then have one retire to the elders den. Although they are still living, you now have another open character slot and can create/adopt a new character if you choose. There is a limit on how many characters you can retire within a certain time frame to make sure no one abuses this.

You may only have one pending character at a time. This means that if you have completed one character but are still waiting for it to be approved, you may not start creating another. This includes adoptions.
Wait for admin approval to start roleplaying. We like to make sure that characters have a good foundation to work with before letting them loose in character.
No two characters can have the same name. This doesn't count for prefixes of course, so there can be multiple cats with the same prefix. This rule still applies after a character is deceased.
Characters must be realistic, appearance wise. This means no wildly coloured eyes, and no impossible pelt colours. We use real cat genetics here, although they're fairly basic. Cats may also not have powers of any kind.
We expect people to play the characters they’ve written. Make sure that whatever you put in your character bio, you're willing to follow through on. Always remember that in character actions carry in character consequences.
You may not have two of your own characters be siblings, mentors/apprentices, or parents of a litter together. If you need to find a character to be a sibling, parent, or child for your own, have a look at the family finder board in Character Creation here. If a litter is born through in-character interaction, each of the parents' players can choose to adopt a kit from the litter as one of their own characters, however this will only be allowed once in each character's lifetime.
Clan cats in positions of power can not be created. If you want your character to become a leader, deputy or medicine cat, this must be done through in character promotion. See this thread for information on how high positions work.
Pregnant and nursing queens, as well as kits, can not be created. Queens need to become pregnant through in-character interaction, and kits must be born in character. Kits are put up for adoption to other players once they're born. This rule may be overridden for the sake of plots, but doing so is very uncommon. A kit is considered to be any cat under 6 moons.

For now, apprentice age cats can be created. However, in the future apprentices will only be able to be made through the growth of kits born into the game.
