Hunter’s Moon 2014

Queen
Appearance:
A shorthaired black cat with slim, defined features. She has a small, round head with two huge, bat-like ears on top of her head that come to a smoothed point. Her bones look small and fragile, but that’s not the case—she’s quite capable of taking care of herself, and to date, she has never broken a single bone. She has bright yellow eyes that seem to glow in the dark, but it’s really just the moon reflecting off them.
Personality:
Sarai is a sweet cat that loves almost everyone, or at least she tries to. Some get on her nerves, but even they deserve to be cared for, she says, for most cats go to the Tribe of Stars (her former tribe’s version of StarClan) when they die, and they should know that before they do, someone, somewhere, gave some sort of a damn whether they existed at all. She is seen as a mother figure, in fact, and can often be found listening to the problems of others and trying to find a solution. There are times when negotiations need to be made, and when those happen, she attempts to explain what kinds of things might work. Sarai has proven time and again that she is a friendly, helpful cat to many.
Sarai is wonderful with kits, and will often spend a lot of time playing with them and telling them stories. Many of these stories are from her old elders, but there are a couple she tells about other tribes she’s heard of, though she knows very few. She’s a great swimmer, despite her coat not being as water resistant, and can be found near rivers most of the time in greenleaf. This she-cat also enjoys good conversation, and actively seeks out others to have these with.
Her greatest weakness is her kindness. It can make her gullible, and get her into trouble with cats with less than pure intentions convince her to come with them. She’s hopelessly looking for love, as well, wanting to have kits of her own but not really understanding what that kind of love is. Finally, she’s not good about opening up about her own past, which further makes some cats she meets suspicious of her.
Sarai absolutely loves swimming, except for in leaf-bare, when her coat is too thin for her to do so without freezing. Hunting is something she enjoys, too, and she’s better at it than fighting, though she can still hold her own so long as she’s evenly matched. Her favorite thing, however, is seeing kits happy. There’s just something about a smiling kit that really brightens up her day.
Of all the things she dislikes, liars are the worst. As a cat that is set in telling the truth, even if it hurts, she finds liars to be slimy frog-hearts that need to get their life together. Leaf-bare is a close second, as she freezes her whiskers off during the snowy moons, and makes her unable to go swimming. Fathers that have nothing to do with their children or that abuse their children, though—that’ll get her in beast mode.
Sarai’s greatest fear is that her family will one day try to track her down and drag her back to her old Tribe, despite the fact she was banished from it. Her father was a nutcase after all, and who knows what he’s thinking now?
History:
Sarai was born in a Tribe far away known as the Tribe of Cricket Chirps, to Jehiel and Milka.
She grew up fairly normal for most of her life, minus never knowing her brother Cain. This is because Jehiel is an insane tom that thinks that black cats are the Tribe of Star’s chosen. Cain was born with a single white patch on his stomach and was sent away to live with his aunt as loners. However, this has never been revealed to Sarai, and likely never will be.
It wasn’t until her brother Gabriel started a relationship with a cat from another Tribe—a non-black cat—that things really got bad. Their father threw an absolute fit over it, and demanded that the she-cat be taken away along with her kits. Gabriel was to be banished. Sarai tried to speak up for him, asking, “Isn’t it enough that you’ve taken away his mate?” Shocked and hurt, Jehiel decided that he would also exile his one and only daughter, his princess, his beloved kit. Sarai wouldn’t back down though. She took the exile in stride.
For a long time, Gabriel and Sarai traveled together, enjoying each others’ company, sleeping under the stars, things of that nature. But Gabriel was hurt by the loss of his mate, and when Sarai wanted to settle down, he simply shook his head and said it wasn’t far enough away from home. With a heavy heart, she allowed her brother to go his own way, watching until he completely disappeared.
It didn’t take her much longer after that to find where the four Clans used to live, but she doesn’t know about them yet. She usually stays in the forest under the trees, but will venture out into old RiverClan territory sometimes.
