I felt the chat board was a bit quiet, so let's bring it back, shall we? I just finished reading Making Rounds With Oscars by David Dosa, M.D. It's about a doctor (geriatric) that works at the nursing home Steere House, a place for people with dementia. Steere House has animals in the home, 6 cats, some birds, and a rabbit. We only hear about four of the cats, Billy, Munchie, Maya, and of course Oscar. Oscar doesn't have much to do with the patients unless they're about to die. It becomes less about the cat and more about how families cope with dementia, though Oscar does seem to provide support for the families and patients. I thought I finished Outcast by Erin Hunter, but I never put in a finished date on LibraryThing (it's like GoodReads, which I also use, but I seem to like it better for some reason) so I guess I didn't finish it. That's what I'll be reading next. If you're curious, you can see the other books I've read this year here. Yes, my username is ThisTornImage on LibraryThing. I've had that username for about 10 years and it just hasn't gone away yet. :P

I just finished a book yesterday called The Archived by Victoria Schwab. I read it for my school's book club and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. It's about a world where people who die are converted into "Histories", which are copies of the person's body that contain all their memories and events in their lifetime. They're stored in a place called the Archive, which is kept a secret from all but a few. Sometimes they wake up and escape, which can be dangerous for everyone. It's quite good, and I'd recommend it for anyone who likes YA books with a supernatural feel.
I started reading Tallstar's Revenge a few days ago and also got Sign of the Moon from the library, so hopefully I'll be finishing those soon. I stopped reading the series at Night Whispers and never really picked it back up, so I'm going to try and get back into it.
I've actually never heard of LibraryThing, it seems interesting! I might make an account soon. I do use GoodReads, but I tend to go through phases where I forget to update it for months at a time.... I totally understand the username thing, too. I've had the username Sarah582 for at least 8 years now, and it's just stuck. I have no idea where it came from, but it's here to stay.

I finished reading Warriors: Power of Three - Eclipse yesterday. I'm slowly catching back up to where I was when I first stopped reading. XD But hey, at least now I don't have to sit impatiently and wait for the next series to come out.

I've heard that's good. I want to try reading it soon. Just need to either stop being lazy and go to the library or get some money to buy it.

Oh man, as much as I love all the characters and the world in that series, I could only get through A Game of Thrones and half of A Clash of Kings... A Clash of Kings just seemed to drag on and on and ooon. I've been meaning to pick the series back up, but just haven't had the time.

I tend to read for a while and pause and read for a while and pause so it always takes me a while to get through them, but I think it's good to break things up, because yeah I think it can kinda drag on too.

I always feel like I have to read things closer together, if I space it out too much then I forget what happened in all the previous chapters. I think that's why I gave up in the first place on GOT--there was too much other stuff going on around me to really still be reading the books at the pace I like.

Yeah I get that. I think it's the sort of book it's best to read if you don't have a lot to do at that time.

I have never read anything by Hemingway, but I'd like to. Any of his books that you'd personally suggest?

oohhh great question!! personally, I got started with his short stories! iirc, the first I ever read was Nobody Ever Dies. I've read a handful since, and I'd honestly recommend them all! Up In Michigan was my favorite for a long time. Hills Like White Elephants and The Snows of Kilimanjaro also come to mind as ones that really stood out.
This is actually the first of Hemingway's novels that I've read! uh, not sure that I'd start out with it tbh. I mean, it is good!!! so, so good. But it's just really serious is all. The losing side of the Spanish Civil War kind of serious, yknow haha. The Sun Also Rises is (arguably) his most popular book, so I'd say it's probably a fairly safe bet for starters. But the one I reeaaaaally wanna read next is The Old Man And The Sea. I always try my best to avoid spoiling myself before I read anything, so I can't tell you too much of what it's about, besides that the main character is a fisherman and a lot of people have cried over that book. That was enough to draw me in!

Nobody Ever Dies sounds very interesting. I think I might try to find that particular story to read first. I'll just have to remember to read other things in between. If I read too much by the same author at once, I start writing and talking like them. XD Drives people nuts.

I read the Legend trilogy by Marie Lu over the summer, and I finished the last book the other day. It's an action-packed dystopian trilogy with some romance as well. The writing is excellent and it's a great read.
